Hewlett Packard ColorSpan

About HP ColorSpan

HP ColorSpan is a leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of production-oriented UV-curable digital wide-format inkjet printers. HP ColorSpan offers a range of printers that are designed to benefit small to mid-size sign making and screen printing companies.

Innovation

Since its inception in 1985, the company has created technology-based products that use alternative, environmental-friendly methods for producing high quality printed documents and images. Early products included controller boards that increased the resolution and speed of common desktop laser printers for the production of typeset masters. Complete plain-paper typesetters followed these with resolutions up to 1800-dpi. Next, the company's PressMate imagesetter used a heat-activated imagesetting film that eliminated the need for photo-chemical processing. In 1993, the company, then LaserMaster Corp, created the wide-format graphic color inkjet market with the introduction of the DisplayMaker printer. The original DisplayMaker has since evolved with many innovative industry firsts that have set the standards for digital printing quality and performance. Some examples include Big Ink Delivery Systems, use of eight and twelve color ink sets and the integration of an on-board camera to enable automatic jet substitution and calibration.

Products

In 2004 HP ColorSpan introduced the DisplayMaker 72UVR, which became the first commercially successful UV-curable wide-format inkjet printer under $100,000. With its ability to print directly on nearly any rigid substrate, it can save customers considerable time and money compared to traditional methods of printing to an intermediate material and mounting it to a rigid substrate. As a result, the DisplayMaker 72UVR, DisplayMaker 72UVX and DisplayMaker 98UVX quickly became the fastest selling UV inkjet printer in the world. In 2006 we introduce the industrial-grade grand format ColorSpan 9840uv belt-fed printer. In 2007 we changed the way people think about UV-curable printers with the introduction of the ColorSpan 5400uv series of affordable, highly-automated 1800-dpi printers.

Through dedicated and intensive training programs, documentation and service methods, the company has gained the reputation of a reliable and efficient equipment supplier, dedicated to their customer's needs. It is HP ColorSpan's commitment to offer un-compromised customer service and support worldwide, and to strengthen its position as a leader and innovator in wide format digital printing markets.
