The first step installing the icc profile for use by the MacOS is to convert the .icm profile previously downloaded to a format usable by ColorSync. This operation is performed by the Prepare ICC Profile application (downloaded and decoded in the 'Transfer the icc profile to your workstation' section of this tutorial). This application will do several things for you:
- Set the correct filetype and creator of the .icm file(s) for use by ColorSync.
- Install the newly converted .icm file(s) into the proper location in the system folder.
- (optionally) Create a special version of the .icm file for use by Macromedia Freehand.
To perform the actions listed above, simply drag the .icm file(s) on top of the Prepare ICC Profile program icon. The program will launch, and present you with the following dialogs:
